A Week in Review (Edition #15)

Happy Weekend! Oh… my… goodness! Friends, I overdid it this week. Interestingly, I am realizing that I am mostly an Introvert when it comes to socializing and RECOVERY. I become depleted relatively easily when socializing and need a LOT of down time to recharge and recover. Well, let’s just say, I had many events on the calendar this week, and not enough down time. I’m TIRED! With that, I also realized that I complained about being tired ALL week… which is not particularly helpful. Instead I need to focus on ways to find rest, and actively recover. I wrote more about in in my newsletter - you can join here.

Here are my highlights this week:

BOOKS

Pretty, Guilty Women

I’ve been in the mood for a light and fun book… a novel if you will. While at a book store in Vail, I found a cute new book that fit the bill. I only just started, but am already enjoying the reprieve of a novel!

EVERY FALL I COME UP WITH A NEW “SIGNATURE” COFFEE RECIPE. I JUST CAN’T RESIT THE CALLING TO MAKE COZY, COMFORTING AND DELICIOUS COFFEE DRINKS.

social-curator-10-2019-37.jpg

This fall was no different.

After Learning A New Term “VSCO Girl” And How She Wears Oversized T-Shirts With Nike Shorts… Carries A Hydro Flask And Drinks Pumpkin Spice Lattes… I Learned 2 Things.

ONE, I and NOT a VSCO Girl (phew!)

TWO, I am #beyondVSCO because I’m a hard-core Millennial who likes local, organic food and to recreate classics as a “healthy” alternative. Whatevs.

Regardless, I wasn’t alone. Daniela and I set out to make this delicious drink as a paleo/keto friendly beverage. She used her past knowledge as a barista to help me.

Instead of adding a bunch of ingredients to the blender, we decided to make a paste… a Pumpkin Butter.

This means you can batch the recipe and keep it in your fridge. That way, even if you are rushing out the door, you can still...

Happy Weekend! This week I became aware of my need to ask for help! Have you ever noticed yourself continually saying “yes” and taking on projects until you just can’t anymore? Looking into the next few months, I knew I needed to ask for help so I could thrive and offer my best. I wrote more about in in my newsletter - you can join here.

Here are my highlights this week:

BOOKS

Quote From The Four Agreements

I’ve mentioned The Four Agreements in previous posts. I continue to read this book and keep pausing to take in the messages. They are both very simple and profound. Life lessons if you will. This week I posted the following excerpt on my Instagram Stories:

We make the assumption that everyone sees life the way we do. We assume others think the way we think, feel the way we feel, judge the way we judge and abuse the way we abuse. This is the biggest assumption that humans make.

And this is why we have a fear of being ourselves around others. Because...

SEPTEMBER 1 - SEPTEMBER 7, 2019

Another (short) week down. Over Labor Day, our friends Zach & Lauren visited. We had a wonderful time reconnecting and doing all the Colorado Things. Zach, John and I went to middle and high school together - Zach and John were each-others’ Best Man at our weddings. Lauren and I became fast friends after college when we all lived in Colorado. Now they are in New York, so it’s important to see each other a couple of times a year.

After they left, I spent the week getting lots of sleep and getting shit done. The extended weekend launched me into the new week with focus and determination. However, I realized that I was missing one key thing in … assimilation! I wrote about taking a pause to let new information soak in for this week’s newsletter. Remember, if you aren’t on my email list, you can join here.

AUGUST 14 - AUGUST 31, 2019

Another month is coming to an end! If you are worried that SUMMER IS OVER, just remember that the Fall Equinox isn’t until September 23. Here’s how I am soaking up the last of summer and preparing myself for a delightful fall… Remember, if you aren’t on my email list, you can join here.

Here are my highlights this week:

TV SHOWS

Mary Kills People

Perhaps you are amazed at how many show recommendations I have for you? I love a good show and often watch an episode or two while eating lunch (#workfromhomelife). I discovered this show on Hulu this week and am HOOKED. For fans of Weeds, this is a MUST. Mary is a Doctor with a side hustle… (HINT - it involves Pentobarbital… which I had to google to spell and now the authorities probably think I am trying to track down the substance. Sigh…)

Watch on Hulu!

Peach Muffins

I’ve gotten into the habit of calling Mia a “Mini-Muffin.”...

AUGUST 18 - AUGUST 23, 2019

Happy Saturday, Friends! Today I’m working from yet another cute restaurant/coffee shop… this time I’m in Midway, UT. I’ve been traveling a lot lately, and decided to share some of my favorite travel tips in this week’s newsletter (if you aren’t on the list, join here).

Here are my highlights this week:

TV SHOWS

Aziz Ansari Netflix Special

If you are looking for some culturally relevant comedy, look no further. John and I saw him perform this live in Denver this February. Now YOU can watch it on Netflix… how cool! Aziz is a brilliant comedian. He intertwines culturally relevant references, self-reflection and big-picture thinking. All sandwiched between some good laughs.

Watch on Netflix!

FAVORITE RECIPE

Juice!

I visited my parents this week and used my dad’s new masticating juicer. I made a delightful blend of kale-cucumber-celery-lemon juice in the morning. Then, for an afternoon pick-me-up, I made a...

AUGUST 10 - AUGUST 17, 2019

Happy Saturday, Friends! Today I am recovering from hardcore SELF-DOUBT. I’m working through old stories of not being “good enough” or “deserving” of what I desire. You see, I am learning a new coaching style, and I feel that I am not “getting it” - certainly not as quickly or as well as the other coaches. I am comparing myself to them, and in the process, feeling like I suck (to sum it up).

Unfortunately, this story is NOT serving me in reaching my goals. It IS, however, serving me in staying “safe” and in my comfort zone. I wrote about this in this week’s newsletter (if you aren’t on the list, join here).

Here are my highlights this week:

TV SHOWS

Working Moms

Since I’m not reading a book a week, let’s talk TV. Netflix has so many great shows! One that I find funny and REAL is Working Moms. Even though I am not a mom, they cover relevant topics in a sarcastic and hilarious...

JULY 29 - AUGUST 9, 2019

Happy Saturday, Friends! Today I am writing from a cute coffee shop in Carpinteria, CA. This little beach town is about 15 minutes south of Santa Barbara. My biz bestie Shannon and I are here staying at her friend’s home. We are swimming in the sea, having high-vibe conversations, working on our businesses, eating healthy food and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Shannon and I are very similar (Enneagram #7) and talk on the phone often, but we only get together about once a year. It’s a great reminder that who you spend time with influences your energy. This week, ideas are soaring, energy is HIGH and possibility is ENDLESS.

Here are my highlights this week:

BOOKS

Braving The Wilderness

I asked Shannon to give us all a book recommendation and she says Braving the Wilderness is a book that every human should read! This book invites compassion and understanding into your heart, something we can all benefit from. I’m sold! If you want to read...

Happy Saturday, Friends! After returning from a restorative trip to the mountains, I felt refreshed and ready to create! This week was full of sales calls, coaching and learning. My empty plate (after leaving my freelance job) was suddenly filled with joy and abundance!

After applying the Primally Pure bug spray, we were able to sit by the lake and eat lunch without any mosquito bites!!

The Structure Of Magic

I am a Coach in Training with the James Wedmore coaching team (#goals)!!! Part of the training is the NLP Meta Model. We were assigned to read this book. It is quite amazing and profound. JULY 21 - JULY 27, 2019

Happy Saturday, Friends! This week John and I are on a mini mountain vacation. I actually wrote both my newsletter and blog while he drove us 3.5 hours into the mountains. Hooray for work AND play.

Here are my highlights this week:

BOOKS

The Four Tendencies

I have so many books I am reading and not finishing! Fun fact about me, I am a #Starter (which means I am not a finisher). Have you read Gretchen Rubin’s book, The Four Tendencies? She takes you through the four motivation types - Obliger (me!), Upholder, Questioner (John!), and Rebel. You will learn not only your main type, but also many sub-types. Including how you shop (over- or under- buyer), how you tackle projects (Starter of Finisher) how you get work done and so much more. The book reinforces what you know about yourself and helps you have compassion for those who aren’t like you… err John!
