JUNE 17 - JUNE 21, 2019

Let me just say, this week was FULL of highs and lows. It was an emotional roller coaster, and I was simply a passenger on the ride. I’m pretty sure I have felt every emotion: from deep sorry and loss, to frustration and anger, pure happiness and elation, and general depletion.


The Gray Man

I am a lover of Lee Child and his famous Jack Reacher novels. Unfortunately, I have read all of them, and was in need of a similar read to get through this week. I discovered The Gray Man series by Mark Greaney. It’s about an ex-CIA black-ops agent who got burned and his new life as a hired hit-man on the run. The stress!! It is exactly the kind of book I like to read when my emotions are tapped out. It’s a way to escape and enjoy. I’m already on the second book in the series.



If you’ve followed my instagram stories, you know I am semi-doing a liver cleanse from the Medical Medium Liver Rescue book. While I am not fully on board, I am enjoying eating simple foods.

My go-to recipe this week was the Vegan Pesto from Minimalist Baker (full recipe here). I used sunflower seeds instead of nuts and it was tasty. I added it to GF noodles (Jovial is the BEST GF pasta brand), and roasted acorn squash. Basil is abundant this time of year, and this sauce is delicious hot or cold. Enjoy!

Hibiscus-Lemon Balm Tea

I’m cutting out coffee! Send help! Luckily I’ve been making iced tea all week and enjoying it throughout the day. I follow a simple process: Add 1 Tlb of loose leaf tea to a 24 oz mason jar and put it in the fridge for 24 hours. Then I strain it and sip throughout the day. This week I combine ½ Tlb hibiscus tea with ½ Tlb lemon balm tea. If you drink it hot, add a touch of honey to balance out the tart hibiscus flavor. If you drink it cold, add a splash of soda water and enjoy the booze-free spritzer.

Moon Phases

Last week was a BEAST, and I know I’m not the only one who felt it. Apparently the full moon shook us all. If you want to explore how Moon phases connect us all, check out Jenna Racioppi’s blog (or her Instagram).

This week she posted about the full moon that leads into the Summer Solstice (June 21).

Here’s an excerpt: “It asks us to be brave enough to see through our turbulent waters, find out what matters to us, and share our creative gifts with the world.” Boy do I resonate with this.
