Believe it or not, I actually miss the Starbucks holiday drinks, but they don’t taste good to me anymore. They are too sweet and have too many questionable ingredients. I was inspired to make something comforting and indulgent this morning, so I bring you this recipe gem.
As always, feel free to adapt the ingredients to your liking. Want extra sweetness? Add up to 1 tsp of maple syrup. Want more spice? go for it! I love this recipe because the fresh ginger adds a bite and freshness to the otherwise rich drink. The maple syrup adds just a teensy bit of sweetness (you could sub monkfruit/stevia for true sugar-free, or ¼ date) and the black pepper isn’t noticeable but boosts the turmeric’s superpower. 💥
The warming spices help you start your day feeling cozy, energized and healthy. But the creamy, slightly sweet flavor allows you to feel indulgent. Win-win. Go make it and tell me what you think.
10 oz hot coffee (or dandyblend/tea)
1/2 inch piece fresh ginger
2 Tlb coconut milk
1 Tlb butter (pastured, grass-fed)
1 Tlb MCT Oil
1/8 - 1/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
1/4 - 1 tsp maple syrup
A few grinds black pepper
Blend all ingredients together on high until creamy and frothy. Sip and enjoy!
You could also make this a nightcap beverage. Sub the coffee for dandyblend or a rooibos tea and add 1oz of bourbon or dark rum. Yum!
